History
Warrenton Bible Fellowship (WBF) began as a home Bible study in 1979 at the home of Guy and Leslie Farley. After experiencing steady growth over a number of years and meeting in a variety of schools and other meeting places, WBF moved into its current location in the center of Warrenton. The building, originally erected in 1912 and serving as a Methodist Church until 1985, was purchased in 1991 with the attached townhouse acquired in 1997.
WBF became part of the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) in 2003. The EFCA is an organization of autonomous churches and provides many of the resources of a denomination without the top-heavy structure many denominational organizations have. The EFCA is a growing association with over 1700 churches in the USA and roots that go back as far as 200 years.
WBF has seen significant growth over the last five years. Convinced we are led by God to remain in our current location, we have determined to resolve our limited space dilemma by multiplying ourselves. We feel our current charge is to equip and strengthen the Body of Christ to do the work of expanding the kingdom of God. In that light, we planted our first church in 2005, Hope Christian Fellowship. More recently, we have had the blessing of welcoming a Spanish speaking congregation into our facility on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM. We are energized and excited about working alongside these new friends to help them grow in the Lord and reach out into our community.
WBF has grown and evolved over the years from a small church in an equally small and remote, farming community into an increasingly diverse and growing church in a bustling and rapidly growing commuter community. We are dedicated and committed to the preaching of God's Word, the authority of the Scriptures and to reaching out into the area around us to see Jesus lifted up as people from every segment of our community are drawn to Him.
